Striving to be the best we can!
Your Maths booklet, attached above, is for the week. Each day is clearly marked to help you know which lesson needs completing.
In school, alongside our Maths lessons, we will have a daily Maths fluency lesson. This is included in the folder below 'Mental Maths / Fluency'.
This week, we are completing Maths No Problem (1b), Chapter 13, Division and beginning Chapter 14, Fractions with a focus on halving.
For additional support, visit the Maths No Problem website using your log in (this was emailed a few weeks ago) to access parent guides for these lessons.
Division review - this enables the children to apply their knowledge and understanding.
Finish Division review and mind workout - encourage your child to explain their thinking.
Introduction to halving. Watch the Powerpoint attached above to introduce the concept of 'halves'. We will also make the link between doubling and halving in school.
Making halves. Halving numbers in yesterday's lesson will prepare the children with a strategy for finding half of a shape when it is divided into parts.
Activity providing lots of practical opportunities for finding and discussing how to find half of a number, object or in time when we say 'half an hour'. Feel free to send us some pictures via Class Dojo of what you choose to find half of!
