WEEKLY UPDATE:
Term Six
Week One
Welcome back!
We have had a super first week back at school. With our Phonic Screens fast approaching, the children have been working very hard to revise the sounds that they know and read them in words. There have been lots of activities on the go including 'hook a word', digging for sounds in the soil and using magnifying glasses to read tiny words. Well done children, we know you will do brilliantly!
Also this week, we have started our work based on 'A Whole New World'. The children became travel agents this week, thinking about hot countries that the Genie could visit for his first trip away. We looked at temperature and plotted hot countries on a map. We are looking forward to using the role play area to continue being travel agents!
To support your child at home, here are some things you could do this term:
- Hear your child read every day. This has such a big impact on their reading progress.
- Please keep practising reading/ spelling the year one common exception words
- Practise mental arithmatic skills. When shopping or cooking, ask your children calculations that they can solve in their heads.
Many thanks for all you support!
