Striving to be the best we can!
Welcome to the Year 5 class page!
Our topic for Terms 5 and 6 is ‘Invasion!’
We will be learning about the invasions that led to the Anglo-Saxon rule of Britain, through the Viking era to the Norman invasion in 1066.
We have lots of exciting things to learn about and the highlight of the topic will be our residential trip to York in June!
Watch out for news on what we’ve been up to 😊

Useful Information for parents
Homework
This term, we will send out a letter detailing the whole term's homework. We ask that you support your child to return homework by the due dates specified in the letter. Homework will consist of Maths and English tasks relating to learning in class. Every other week, we will set Times Tables Rockstars tasks. Don't worry if you don't have access to this at home because there will be opportunity for your child to complete this at school if necessary.
You can find a copy of the homework letter in the 'Documents' section below.
In addition to formal homework, we ask that you continue to listen to your child read on a regular basis and that you discuss what they have read with them. This will help enormously when they come to quizzing at school.
Spellings will also be sent home and your child is encouraged to learn these over the week ready for a test on Wednesdays. These spellings are taken from the focus of lessons the previous week.
We would also like your child to continue learning their times tables. A letter will be sent home explaining the process and can be found below for your reference.
PE
This term both classes will be doing PE on Monday's and Thursdays.
Trainers rather than plimsolls are advisable as we will be on the school field whenever possible and this can get muddy (even in the summer!)
It may be worthwhile leaving the kit at school at all times. We will make sure that it comes home at the end of term for washing or sooner if it gets particularly muddy!
