Summer Term 1 Updates
We hope you have had a great couple of weeks off home school and are ready to get back to it! As you will be aware from the latest Parentmail, we are suggesting you use the BBC Bitesize to support your child’s learning. Below is the time table for upcoming week (w/c 20th April)
For Maths, you should shortly be receiving an email from Maths No Problem. We would like you to use this to support maths learning. Once you have created an account you will have access to all the Year Six Content. Please could you focus on Chapter 5 Measurements and Chapter 11 Volume. To support you were are lesson guides and also the option to gain further ongoing support via email (from Maths No Problem). However, please continue to message us directly too if you are unsure about anything.
Alongside BBC Bitesize and Maths No Problem, pleasure continue to listen to your children read, engage with Times Tables Rock Stars and work your way through any other learning from the previous two Learning Mats. We will also be posting regularly on Class Dojo any other challenges or learning opportunities we find.
Please continue to contact us via Class Dojo, we are here to answer any questions and to support you in your home learning. We also love to see pictures of what you have been up to each week, so please keep those coming. This term we are also introducing top picture of the day so you can see you’re your class have been up to and share your fabulous, creative ideas!

**Year 6 Home Learning Mats**
Please use the Year 6 Home Learning Mats and website links below to support your child when learning at home.
These are full of ideas and learning opportunities. Please don't worry - we don't expect anyone to have completed the first couple of mat yet, please keep working through at your own pace!

Every term we will send out a letter detailing the whole term's homework. Homework will consist of maths and English tasks relating to learning in class and the year 6 objectives. Homework will go out every Friday and should be returned back the following Thursday. We ask that you support your child to return homework by the due dates specified in the letter. If children are struggling to complete tasks, we are more than happy to help them.

In addition to formal homework, we ask that you continue to listen to your child read on a regular basis and that you discuss what they have read with them. This will help enormously when they come to quizzing at school. We would also like your child to continue learning their times tables - Times Tables Rockstars will be a valuable tool for this!
This term both classes will participate in one out door and one indoor PE session.
Please could you ensure that your child has the correct kit at school on these days. It is also important to have a pair of shoes for both indoor and outdoor PE. Trainers rather than plimsolls are advisable for outdoor PE as we will be on the school courts and maybe field.
It may be worthwhile leaving the kit at school at all times. We will make sure that it comes home at the end of term for washing or sooner if it gets particularly muddy!
Term One - Route 66
We are very excited to be teaching this topic this during the first term in year six! We can’t wait to read ‘There’s a boy in the girl’s bathroom’ during our English lessons and use this to inspire our writing. During this incredible topic, children will be using their geography skills, using atlases to location specific locations and learning all about the human and physical features of America. We will also learn about specific locations along Route 66 and why people take this special journey! Our focus will then move to earthquakes and children will learn all about the causes and consequences of them.
